Rare and stunning Side Saddle, Piggy Back Canteen.
 
This totally original example by Mappin & Co, 121 New Street, Birmingham appears to be unused. The leather workmanship is outstanding with the finest stitching we have ever seen. The flask and sandwich case are pewter both of which are expertly and abundantly engraved including the initials ‘D H’. There are no dents or scratches and both fit snugly into the case. There is one very minor loose stitch on the edge of the lid, shown in the photo. In our opinion it has been a display piece throughout its 160 + years of life.
